Lessons with Vance

Lessons are geared toward each individual students interests and needs. We will concentrate on the basic fundamentals of technique, coordination, reading and improvisation needed for playing the drums. We will also learn basic care and tuning of drums, how to play different styles of music and much more!!!

Teaching Experience

Vance has been teaching private lessons for the last 22 years. He has taught private lessons at home, in public schools and through music stores (The Melody Shop & School of Music and The Drum Exchange).

Playing Experience

Vance Nurkala has been a drummer/percussionist for 28 years and has performed in a wide variety of musical groups. Throughout High School and College he performed in marching bands, jazz bands, pep bands, concert bands and percussion ensembles. He also played with local variety and wedding bands such as Center Stage & Runaway. In 1993 Vance moved from his home state of Michigan to Seattle. He and has been drumming in the local music scene with the bands Crybaby, Simple Machine, Chill Factor, Stranger By The Minute, iCandi, Idol Eyez and ML3.

Lesson Policy

Students are expected to practice regularly and attend one lesson per week consistently. Payment for lessons are due at the first of each month. Fees for cancelled lessons or no shows will be forfeited. Missed lessons due to emergency or illness may be re-scheduled within one month. Advance notice of at least 24 hours is required. Cancelled lessons by the instructor will be rescheduled within one month or the lesson will be pro-rated into the next month.
